Grupa z Beaumont  (Texas, US), działająca w drugiej połowie lat 60-tych  -  pierwotnie w składzie :
- Jake Tortorice  -  lead vocals  (Jake Tortorice Jr., ur. 18.02. 1952r.)
- Antoine LeBlanc  -  keyboards  (ur. 24.07. 1952r.)
- Joey Patrizi  -  lead guitar  (Victor Joseph Patrizi, ur. 01.08. 1951r.)
- John Schmidt  -  bass  (John Christopher Schmidt, ur. 25.05. 1950r., występował także w lokalnym, 
   popularnym zespole The Britons, zm. 26.06. 2013r.)
- Gerald Patrizi  -  drums  (Gerald Anthony Patrizi, starszy brat Joey'a, ur. 18.04. 1950r.) 
- Jimmy Phelan  -  rhythm guitar  (James Phelan, ur. 11.03. 1950r., zm. 28.02. 2012r.).
W póżniejszym okresie do zespołu dołączył Glen Moyer  (bass), zastępując John'a Schmidt'a.

Society's Children  (Illinois - US,  Psych Rock)  -  mało znane zespoły





Society's Children  -  to kolejna świetna kapela z Illinois.  Założona w 1967r. w Lansing przez
Doreen Sassone i jej szesnastoletniego syna - Pat Sassone  (wcześniej w Patrick And The Shamrock).
Pierwotny  (singlowy)  skład zespołu :
- Doreen Sassone  -  lead vocals  (ur. 18.02. 1931r., zm. 27.11. 2017r., wokalistka dysponująca
   świetnym głosem idealnie wpasowanym w stylistykę zespołu)      
- Pat Sassone  -  lead guitar  (Patrick Martin Sassone, ur. w 1951r., bardzo utalentowany muzyk i
   kompozytor)
- John Kolada  -  bass
- Fred Sudlow  -  drums.
W póżniejszym okresie grupa przeszła zmiany personalne, a w 1976r. została rozwiązana.

"... Hello Paul, I am more than happy to answer your questions. Society's Children was formed in 1967 in Lansing, Illinois, U.S.A. Lansing was a suburb just south of Chicago. I was the guitarist, the lead singer was Doreen Sassone, The bass player was John Kolada, and the drummer was Fred Sudlow. We played numerous teen club dances, private parties, etc. We were scheduled to become an opening act for several concerts with name groups at the time, but a disagreement between our record company and the promoters ended that. The group went through personnel changes and finally disbanded in 1976. Thank you so much for your interest, Patrick Sassone ... "

Krótkotrwała formacja braci Andy i Tony Qunta  (zobacz Factory -- https://kossoff1963progandpsychrock.blogspot.com/2018/11/factory-uk-psych-rock-mao-znane-zespoy.html)  pierwotnie znana pod nazwą Perfect Turkey  (dwa nagrania : "Stones" / "Perfect Turkey Blues"
acetate Oak, koniec 1968 lub początek 1969).
Piosenka "Lover Please" wiele lat póżniej znalazła się na kompilacji - "The Story Of Oak Records"  (1994,
Tenth Planet, TP 010).
Drugi utwór z singla  ("Broken Heart")  pozostaje anonimowy do dziś.  Singiel jest praktycznie nieosiągalny,
nawet dla członków tego zespołu.

Thanks for your message! 
Originally called Perfect Turkey, Velvet Hush was a band my brother Tony and I formed at school in 1968. We switched instruments with each other occasionally, but the line-up on the single was:

Andy Qunta - guitar, piano, vocals
Tony Qunta - bass guitar
Dick Bloom - drums

Both these songs were written by me, but we all wrote songs. 

After that band, Tony & I formed rock band Factory in 1970, with Tony on lead guitar, me on keyboards & 12-string guitar, and it lasted till 1976. We reformed it in 2015, and our latest album was just released. 

Tony & I have been musicians all our lives. I actually did two tours in Poland with a band called Classix Nouveaux in the ‘80s. I also had success with Australian band Icehouse, and co-wrote a big hit for John Farnham - You’re The Voice. ..."

"...The band was originally called Perfect Turkey. In October ‘68, when I was 17 and Tony & Dick were 15, we recorded 4 songs at R.G.Jones Studio in south London - Feelings Burnt By Love, The Empty Air, Stones, and Curried Turkey (Perfect Turkey Blues). In March ‘69, at the same studio, we recorded Broken Heart & Lover Please. By this time we decided Perfect Turkey was a silly name, so we changed it to Velvet Hush, but it’s the same band. 
I may have a couple of photos. I will try to find them for you. 
We no longer have copies of the first 4 songs, unfortunately. 
Lover Please was released on a double album a few years ago - The Best of Oak Records. I also have a very bad copy of Broken Heart, which I hope I can restore, as it skips a lot. I will try to do that soon. 
I will try to send you whatever photos I can find, and copies of the 2 songs in the next few days. ..."

 The Barons  (Maryland - US, Garage Rock)  -  mało znane zespoły





The Barons z Prince George's County  (Hillcrest Heights / Temple Hills, Maryland, US)  to grupa mająca w dorobku nagraniowym jeden singiel, który należy do kategorii "perełek" rocka garagowego.
Przypuszcza się, iż pozostało jedynie około 10 egzemplarzy tego singla  (cena kopii w idealnym stanie to około
1500 USD)  nagranego w studio w Nowym Jorku przez czwórkę nastolatków z Crossland High School  [Temple Hills, MD]  i  Surrattsville High School  [Clinton, MD] :
- Dave Olson  -  lead guitar, backing vocals
- James Packett  -  lead vocals, rhythm guitar
- John Bello  -  bass, backing vocals
- Steve Packett  -  drums  (młodszy brat James'a).
Singiel :
- " Time And Time Again "  (Dave Olson, James Packett)

- " Now You're Mine "  (David Olson, James Packett),

został wydany w marcu 1966r. na etykiecie The S.R.O. Label  (ZTSP - 122426 / 122427).









Grupa powstała na początku 1965r., wykorzystując lokalny magazyn jako miejsce prób.
Wczesny repertuar zespołu to przede wszystkim covery brytyjskich zespołów  (The Yardbirds, The Animals,
The Kinks i inne)  spod znaku "British Invasion", póżniej własne piosenki autorstwa duetu : Dave Olson - James Packett.
Status grupy nie ograniczał się tylko do terminu "lokalny zespół".  Oprócz występów w weekendy
na imprezach, weselach i lokalnych klubach nocnych, The Barons zaliczyli kilka prestiżowych
koncertów, m.in. :
- "The American Palace"  (klub dla nastolatków mieszczący się w nieistniejącym już hotelu "Dodge" w
centrum Washington, DC)
- "Cafe Wha ?"  (Greenwich Village - Manhattan, NYC)
- program telewizyjny "Wing Ding"  (TV Show, Washington, DC)
- konkursy "The Battle Of The Bands"  (jeden z nich wygrali).
W szczytowym okresie działalności spędzali większość czasu w trasie (śpiąc na klubowych scenach), zarabiając około 700 USD za występ.
Spora ilość kopii singla  (około 100 egzemplarzy)  wiele lat temu była przechowywana w dom Dave
Olsona. Przez wiele lat znajdowały się w pudłach do czasu kiedy mama Dave'a postanowiła się ich
pozbyć - wyrzucić.

Szczególne podziękowania dla John'a Bello za informacje o zespole.

John Bello : 

"...  We were high school students that played weekend gigs at parties,weddings, and local nightclubs. There were 4 of us. I was a senior in high school in 1966. We sold the records ourselves for $1.00.
We were able to get a local radio station WPGC to play it a couple of times. Unfortunately, the band members went in different directions after graduating high school. That was the only 2 songs we recorded. 
Pat ( James) Packett lead singer and Rythm guitar, David Olson lead guitar & back up singer, Steve Packett drums and back up singer, me bass guitar and back up singer.
Pat Packett Surrattsville class of 65 believe. David Olson ...Crossland class of 65 I believe.
Yes it was founded in Temple Hills in 1965 a suburb of Washington DC and we played around the Washington DC area. 
I don't have any photos readily available and will have to dig around to see if I can find any. That was over 50 years ago. ..."

The Iron Gate - grupa z północno-wschodniej Filadelfii, mająca sporą grupę fanów, których opinia była
zgodna - " Iron Gate - chłopcy z Father Judge High School wyprzedzali swoje czasy ".
Wielka szkoda, że tylko dwa nagrania zespołu  (singiel)  pozostały jako wspomnienie tej nietuzinkowej grupy.
Nagrania singlowe nie oddają w pełni potencjału i stylistyki muzycznej Iron Gate.

Formacja Iron Gate powstała w 1965  (początkowo pod nazwą The S Shades)  -  pierwotnie w składzie :
- Lou Wolfenson  -  bass, rhythm guitar
- Mike Campbell  -  lead guitar
- Tom Cullen  -  lead vocals
- Sal Gambino  -  Farfisa organ, tambourine
- Bill Moser  -  drums

W grudniu 1966r. ojciec Mike'a sfinansował sesję nagraniową i produkcję singla  (jedyne wydawnictwo
zespołu). The Iron Gate zarejestrowali  (w oryginalnym składzie)  cztery piosenki, oprócz utworów
singlowych, m.in. " Hit The Road Jack"  (niestety nieosiągalne nagranie, jak wyraził się Lou - "nikt nie ma tego nagrania").
Singiel (500 kopii) :
- " Feelin' Bad "  (Cullen, Gambino)

- " My Generation "  (cover The Who)

ukazał się na początku 1967r.  (Marbell Records, 1001)










Występy, singiel i współpraca z lokalnym radiowym DJ doprowadziły do występów Iron Gate w programach
telewizyjnych Eda Hursta :
- "Aquarama"  (lokalny program z okolic Filadelfii)
- "Summertime On The Pier"  (ogólnokrajowy Show TV w Atlantic City)




(Lipiec 1967, Tom Cullen i Lou Wolfenson - tuż przed występem w TV Show - "Summertime On The Pier")




W póżniejszym okresie nastąpiły zmiany personalne, odeszli : Moser  (zastąpiony przez Dennis Manley - drums), Cullen i  (nie z własnej woli) Lou Wolfenson  (przeprowadzka wraz z rodzicami do odległego o
20 mil Bensalem).
W nowym składzie :
- Mike Campbell
- Sal Gambino
- Dennis Manley  -  drums, vocals
- George Muller  -  rhythm guitar, vocals
- Lou Mendicino  -  bass, vocals,
grupa Iron Gate nie przetrwała długo. W roku 1968 działalność zespołu została zakończona  (większość
członków zespołu skończyło szkołę i poszło do college'u).

Serdeczne podziękowania dla Lou Wolfenson za materiały i informacje o zespole, a także pozdrowienia dla
"muzycznego geniusza" - jego syna - Erik'a "Little Wolf" Wolfenson'a, który już w wieku 10 lat otwierał
koncerty muzycznych sław, m.in. : George Thorogood, Muddy Waters, Steppenwolf, John Lee Hooker,
David Bromberg, Willie Dixon.














Lou Wolfenson :

"...You come back a long time ago, Paul ☆ many questions that I could write a book about. Little fellow baseball player Mike Campbell and I decided to take guitar lessons together. We slowly learned to play and found others to join us. Mike's father financed a 45 rpm project which had a combined production of 500 copies which we sold at the dance and gave away for promotion. Philly radio DJ Frank X Feller cooperated with us quite often. This led to TV shows on 2 Ed Hurst shows: Aquaram (a local Philadelphia area show) and his national TV show Summertime On The Pier in Atlantic City ~ we were with Frank Sinatra Jr. All of this was of course when we were in high school ☆ my parents moved to Bensal, Philly Suburb so I was replaced and not long after graduating from high school in 1968 the band broke up as many members went to college. ..."
"...The line-up included Mike Campbell lead guitar, Sal Gambino keyboardist, William "Bill" Moser percussion, Tom Cullen's vocals, and me on rhythm and bass guitar ..."
"...As you somehow discovered, we recorded 4 tracks in the studio, only 2 of which were pressed onto vinyl. Hit The Road Jack was left behind. ..."
"...I was 16 ~ I didn't quit, but when my parents moved far away (not driving yet) I tried to go to the rehearsal by talking to a few buses ~ it was just too much so they found family and friends to fill in until finally the band dissolved ..."
"...After Iron Gate, I got married at 18 and had a son at 19. I gave up music until my son Erik was 5 years old when I picked up the guitar again giving him lessons. At the age of 10, Erik "Little Wolf" opened the show for George Thorogood, Muddy Waters, Steppenwolf, John Lee Hooker, David Bromberg, Willie Dixon and others ..."
"...Years later, I met James Cotton (the famous Blues Harper) and hired him to raise money for our men's softball team ☆ this led to the creation of the oldest continuously operating blues organization in Bucks County, PA in the world. Later I moved to Hawaii and founded the Hawaii Blues Society on Big Island and the Maui Blues Association ..."
