The Bare Facts (Ohio - US, Garage Rock) - (nie) zapomniane single

The Bare Facts  (Ohio - US, Garage Rock)  -  (nie) zapomniane single

The Bare Facts - to najpopularniejsza i jedna z najlepszych grup lat 60-tych w Portsmouth  (Ohio, US),
Miałem wielką przyjemność nawiązać kontakt z jednym z liderów zespołu :
- Russell Pruitt  -  drums, background vocals  (Russell Wayne Pruitt z Portsmouth, ur. 24.11.1947r.),
który przekazał mi informacje o zespole.

Grupa Bare Facts powstała w Portsmouth w 1966r. jako kwintet - w składzie :
- Bill Williams  -  lead guitar, lead vocals, harmonica  (William Boyd Williams, znany póżniej jako
Boyd Williams, ur. w sierpniu 1948r.)
- Russ  (Rusty)  Pruitt
- Ron Pruitt  -  rhythm guitar, occasionally lead guitar, vocals, background vocals  (Ronald Ray
"Narayana" Pruitt, młodszy brat Russella, ur. 17.02. 1950r. w Portsmouth, uczęszczał do
   Portsmouth High School - class 1968, zm. 22.12. 2016r.)
- Dave Craycraft  -  organ Hammond B-3, trumpet, vocals, background vocals  (zdaniem Russella
   zdecydowanie najlepszy muzyk w zespole)
- Randy Boldman  -  bass, vocals, background vocals  (Randy Gene Boldman, ur. 18.09. 1948r.,
wcześniej w lokalnej formacji The Creatures, póżniej, m.in. w Lickity Split, Aggravated Assult).

(The Bare Facts, 1966 - od lewej : Craycraft, Williams, Rusty Pruitt, Boldman, Ron Pruitt)

W tym składzie w 1966r. Bare Facts nagrali  (Nowy Jork - Jay Gee Productions - właściciel
wytwórni Jubilee Records i B.T. Puppy)  swój hitowy singiel  (pierwsze miejsce na regionalnych
listach przebojów i 100 pozycja na Billboard Hot) :
- "Georgiana"  (Williams)
- "Bad Part Of Town"  (Williams),
1966, Jubilee.

Około 1967r. do zespołu dołączył :
- Bill Maple  -  rhuthm guitar, trumpet, background vocals  (William P. Maple, ur. 13.08. 1948r.)

                                                        (The Bare Facts, circa 1967)

W 1967r. w sześcioosobowym składzie grupa nagrała  (to samo miejsce co poprzednio)  drugi
(ostatni)  singiel :
- "The Only Thing"  (Craycraft - R. Frazier)
- "To Think"  (Craycraft),
1967, Josie - Joz 588 / 589.

To co najlepszy, grupa prezentowała na licznych koncertach  (cały wschód  US,  m.in. :
Action City - Brooklyn, NY  [największy klub nocny], podczas występu w Tampa, FL
"skasowali" The Left Bank, gościła w popularnym TV Show - "Upbeat" nadawanym w
ogólnokrajowym programie telewizyjnym).
Pojawiła się w wydawnictwach prasowych :
- Teen Life Magazine
- East And West Coast Magazine
- Go Magazine

                                                              ("GO" Magazine, 1966)

Grupa The Bare Facts została rozwiązana w 1968r.

Many thanks to Russell Pruitt for the information.

Russell Pruitt  (w odpowiedzi na zadane mu  pytania) :

"...Originally formed in Portsmouth, Ohio, 1966; Russ Pruitt: drummer, background vocals; Dave Craycraft: Hammond B-3, trumpet, lead and background vocals; Randy Boldman: Bass, lead and background vocals; Bill (aka “Boyd”) Williams: lead guitar, harmonica, primary lead singer; Ron Pruitt: rhythm guitar (occasionally lead), lead and background vocals. ..."

"...After the 1st 45 release, Bill Maple was added: rhythm guitar, trumpet, background vocals ..."

"...Performed all over Eastern U.S.; Action City, Brooklyn, NY(world’s largest nightclub) the Trogs were the main act, Bare Facts and The Boys from New York City were the dance bands; both records recorded in NYC at Jay Gee Productions, who owned the labels, Jubilee (1st record) and B.T. Puppy 2nd record)

Performed with The Left Bank (Just Walk Away Renee) in Tampa, FL and blew them off the stage (in our opinion😋).

Featured in Teen Life Magazine (our photo was next to Peter Noone of Herman’s Hermits); also featured in GO Magazine an East and West Coast Music Trade Magazine. Simon and Garfunkel were on the cover, and Bare Facts and The Yard Birds were on the back page (our article and photo were larger than theirs.

Also performed on the Nationally syndicated TV Show, “Upbeat.” Also in same show we’re Little Anthony and the Imperials, Aretha Franklin, Phil Ochs and others I can’t recall..."

"...We broke up in ‘68. We all continued to play professionally for years afterwards. I played for Chuck Jackson, who recorded Burt Bacharach’s first hit, “Any Day Now.” He also had a hit with “ I Don’t Want’a Cry.” Chuck is is in the Motown HOF, and a Legend of the Apollo. For a short time I played with a group managed by Dash Croft (Seals and Croft - no records just a demo recording). I also played in 3 groups with Shane Keister (the world’s most recorded keyboardist) Who later went on to become a top Nashville studio musician and played on a Paul McCartney record and played in Elvis Presley’s performing band.

I became a Christian and Preacher in 1980, and have also been a Christian songwriter since 2000, and have had 10 “cuts”of my songs by various Christian artists.

My YouTube channel is “A Proven Faith, LLC” ..."
