Gehenna  (Texas - US ,  Heavy Psych / Blues Rock)  -  mało znane zespoły

Bardzo ciekawy zespół z Teksasu, działający w Houston na początku lat siedemdziesiątych.

Udało mi się nawiązać kontakt z jednym z muzyków tej grupy :

- Garry Patton  -  organ, piano, lead vocals  (Gary Alan Patton z Houston, ur. 06.06. 1953r.,

   absolwent Humble High School, Humble, TX - class 1971, póżniej student Sam Houston

   State University, kompozytor, autor tekstów),

który przekazał mi materiały i cenne informacje o tym zespole.

Grupa Gehenna powstała w Houston na początku lat 70-tych - pierwotnie w składzie :

- Garry Patton - organ, piano, lead vocals

- Bill Messer  -  guitar, vocals

- Ronnie Prewitt  -  drums

                             (Gehenna, od lewej : Garry Patton, Ronnie Prewitt, Bill Messer)

oraz w początkowym okresie, nieżyjący już :

- James Grimes  -  bass,

którego zastąpił :

- Johnny Johnson  -  bass   (przypuszczalnie - Jonathon [Jon]  Johnson  - kolega ze szkolnej

   ławy H.H.S.  Garry'ego Pattona).

Z nowym basistą  (Johnny Johnson)  w 1971r.  grupa nagrała singiel  (jedyne wydawnictwo

zespołu)  w Rampart Street Recording Studios w Houston :

- "Decades"  (Bill Messer - Garry Patton)

- "Mystery Tree"  (Bill Messer - Garry Patton),

wydany w 1971r. przez Rampart Street Records  (RSRS - 0531).

Wystąpiła także na kilku kameralnych  (prywatnych)  imprezach na terenie Houston.

"...Paul, just saw this message. I joined Gehenna when I graduated high school in May of 1971. I play keyboards and sing. The original lineup was myself on keys & vocals, Bill Messer on lead guitar and vocals, Ronnie Prewitt on drums and James Grimes on bass. Bill and I were songwriters and wrote these two songs. We got another bass player but only played a few private parties here in Houston Texas, USA. The recording was done at a Houston studio named Rampart Street Recording Studios. I went on to perform around the world with different bands and now play in a Garth Brooks Tribute Band called Ropin the Wind. I also play for my church every Sunday. Ronnie moved to California and we lost touch. 

Bill doesn’t play much now and James passed away. Hope this helps. ..."
