The Unwritten Law (California - US, Garage / Psych Rock) - mało znane zespoły
Dzięki nieocenionej pomocy Jim'a Farrelly - lead vocals, saxophone (Jim, thank you very much for the materials and information about the band) mogę napisać kilka słów o tej mało znanej, niedocenianej formacji z Napa (California, US).
Grupa Unwritten Law działała w drugiej połowie lat 60-tych - pierwotnie w składzie :
- Ken McCutcheon - lead guitar (Kenneth McCutcheon, ur. w 1949r., uczęszczał do Napa High
School - class 1967)
- Marty Eyestone - organ Hammond B-3 (Martin J. Eyestone z Fairfield, CA, ur. 01.02. 1947r.)
- Jim Farrelly - lead vocals, saxophone (James Francis Farrelly Jr., ur. 03.04. 1950r. o szkockich
korzeniach - od strony matki, uczęszczał do Vanden High School, Fairfield - class 1968)
- Gregg Raneri - bass (Gregg A. Raneri z Napa, ur. 21.11. 1949r., Napa High School - class 1967)
- Jerry Ellsworth - rhythm guitar (Jerry Lee Ellsworth, ur. 13.10. 1949r., uczęszczał do Vanden
High School - class 1967)
- Dan Ransford - drums (Daniel Bryan Ransford z Napa, ur. 18.05. 1948r., Napa High School).

Rok 1967 był szczególnie owocny dla zespołu. Unwritten Law nagrali swój singiel (świetne, niestety
niedocenione wydawnictwo - obecnie nie do zdobycia, perełka kolekcjonerska) :
- "Actions Speak Louder" (Marty Eyestone)
- "This Whole World Is Blind" (Ken McCutcheon)
(1967, Strata Records),
a także wzięli udział w sesji nagraniowej singla nastoletniej wokalistki Debbie Williams :
- "Love Seems So Hard To Find" (Jim Farrelly - Ken McCutcheon)
- "Ask Me" (Jim Farrelly - Ken McCutcheon).
Jim Farrelly :
"...Ken lead guitar. Marty, Hammond B3. Jim/ me rhythm guitar, lead vocal and saxophone. Gregg I think bass. Jerry rhythm guitar. We played warm up for Loading Zone a number of times. They were great. Thinking back, they should have made it big!! I was a Junior in HS. The others were much older than me. We didn’t go to the same HS. I was an USAF brat. Went to Vanden HS Travis AFB. I was in the Air Force band 68- 72. I’m a professional musician, still am. Saxophone and woodwinds. I’ve toured with all the Motown groups as well as many others. I do studio work now and shows. Have a jazz group. I’ve recorded 2 cds. I have no idea what the other guys ended up doing. Sorry!
