Night Riders (Florida - US, Garage Rock) - mało znane zespoły
Nowy Rok 2020, zaczynamy od wizyty w małej, urokliwej miejscowości Lake City (znanej jako
"The Gateway to Florida") położonej w hrabstwie Columbia (Florida, US).
To właśnie tam w połowie lat 60-tych powstał zespół o nazwie Night Riders.
Miałem wielką przyjemność nawiązać kontakt z liderem tej formacji - Chris Prescott, który
przekazał mi informacje na temat tego zespołu.
W 1965r. sześciu młodych (13 - 15 lat) chłopców z Lake City założyło Night Riders :
- Chris Prescott - lead guitar, vocals (Christopher Ivan Prescott, ur. 30.05. 1952r., były członek
grupy The Dark Horseman)
- Mike Tillotson - rhythm guitar, vocals (Michael James Tillotson, ur. 16.12. 1951r.)
- Gary Chellew - drums, vocals (Gary Leonard Chellew, ur. 01.06. 1952r., zm. 07.04. 2005r.)
- Pat Hunter - vocals, keyboards
- Larry Stiles - bass, vocals (Larry Scott Stiles, ur. w 1951r.)
- Jim Odom - rhythm guitar, vocals (James Lee Odom, ur. w 1952r., zmarł 10.02. 2007r. w wyniku
obrażeń odniesionych w wypadku samochodowym).
Popularność zespołu wykraczała poza lokalną społeczność . Night Riders koncertowali na całej
Florydzie i w południowej Georgii.
W 1965r. nagrali singiel w Atlancie, GA :
- "All Night Long" (Chris Prescott)
- "Don't Say" (Shamrock),
wydany (1965) na etykiecie Boblo (Boblo Records, nr kat. 110).
Grupa rozpadła się w 1967r. Chris w wieku 16 lat podjął dalszą edukację w Duncan U. Fletcher
High School. Jest nadal aktywny muzycznie o czym można się przekonać wchodząc na stronę :

"... Paul, sure here goes. First the band is from North Florida and was formed in 64. The single was recorded in Atlanta, Ga. The band played all over Florida and southern Georgia. There were two studio recordings the only one that went to wax was the one you mentioned. The band was made up of 6 guys Gary Chelew on Drums, Mike Tillotson on Rhythm guitar, Pat Hunter keyboards, Larry Stiles on bass Jim Odom on 2cnd Rhythm. I played lead guitar and front man. Pat also sang. All others back up vocals.
The band broke in 67 I went on to other bands. Played in several Matchless 4+1 and several others that I don’t remember the names ... "
"...Lake City Florida, No most of us went to Columbia High School in Lake City. I left Lake City at 16 and went to Fletcher to finish HS. Our ages were from 13 to 15. Recording was 6 musicians. The majority still live in Lake City. Of course I live in John’s Creek, Ga. I’m not quite sure what they do now, I’m the CEO of Home Decor Outlets. ... I think I might be off by 1 Year. 65 is more likely.
