The Eastern Alliance  (Connecticut - US, Garage Rock)  -  mało znane zespoły

Historia tego zespołu jest nierozerwalnie związana z lokalnym  (New Haven, CT)  muzykiem,

wokalistą - Tim Gay.

Przesympatyczny, uprzejmy i nad wyraz pomocny człowiek, który w wielką chęcią podzielił się

ze mną swoją muzyczną biografią, przekazując mi bezcenne informacje i materiały  (zdjęcia, pliki

muzyczne) dotyczące jego pierwszego zespołu o nazwie The Eastern Alliance.

Tim - w tym miejscu pragnę ci serdecznie podziękować  za okazaną pomoc, bez której ta publikacja

byłaby niemożliwa.

Grupa The Eastern Alliance powstała w New Haven w 1965r. - założona przez Tim Gay i jego

starszego o dwa lata kolegę Bill Wrinn.

Pierwotnie był to kwartet - w składzie :

- Tim Gay  -  lead vocals, tambourine  (Timothy George Gay, Sr., ur. 01.01. 1949r.)

- Bill Wrinn  -  drums  (William M. Wrinn z New Haven, ur. 08.09. 1947r., zm. 20.09. 1999r.)

- Bill Dinneen  -  bass  (William Joseph Dinneen, ur. 13.03. 1949r. w New Haven, uczęszczał do

   Notre Dame High School - West Haven, grał w kilku lokalnych zespołach : Eastern Alliance,

   The Royals, The Sweet Tea Band, zm. 21.01. 2011r.)

- Joe Viouso  -  keyboards, organ  (Joseph C. Vaiuso z pobliskiego Hamden, CT, ur. 27.01. 1949r.),

do którego wkrótce dołączył :

- Ricky Zwick  -  guitar  (Richard Henry Zwick z Bethany, CT, ur. 29.01. 1948r., absolwent - Amity

   Regional Senior High School - class 1966).

W tym składzie, na początku 1966r. Eastern Alliance nagrali  (The Music Box Recording Studio w

Hamden)  pierwszy singiel :

- "Love Fades Away"  (Wrinn - Gay)

- "Please Don't Say You're Sorry"  (Wrinn - Gay),

wydany  (private press)  tego samego roku na etykiecie Wriga  (nazwa pochodzi od nazwisk Wrinn i

Gay)  Records  ( 124-12  [TK4M - 5025 / 5026] ).

Ricky Zwick wkrótce potem opuścił zespół - został zastąpiony przez :

- Al Paluse (z Ansonia, CT)  -  guitar.

W 1967r. grupa nagrała  (studio nagraniowe Syncron Trad Nossell w Wallingford, CT)  drugi

singiel, zawierający, m.in. kompozycję :

- "Landr - Why Don't You Love Me",

niestety nigdy nie został wydany.

Bill Dinneen opuścił zespół, a zastąpił go basista John Riccio  (a.k.a  Buffalo Sun).

To był jednak koniec zespołu, który około 1968r. zmienił nazwę na The Snow  (circa 1968 - 1970).

Reaktywacja zespołu Eastern Alliance  (w nowym składzie)  nastąpiła w 1970r.

Po dwóch latach działalności, w 1972r. powstał zespół o nazwie Taprock.

Taprock nagrał i wydał jeden singiel :

- "Sad Weary Town"  (R.Anderson - T.Gay)

- "I Watch You Waking"  (R.Anderson - T.Gay - S.Holden)

(1974, School Bus Records, SBR - 0001).

Działalność tego zespołu dobiegła końca około 1979r., kiedy to Tim założył  (długodystansowy)

The Smokey Boys Band - w latach 1979 - 1989 grupa występowała z wieloma artystami Nashville

Grand Ole Opry, wydała wiele albumów, uczestniczyła w telewizyjnych programach muzycznych,

a także pojawiła się w horrorze  Steve Miner'a - "Friday The 13th, Part 2"  (1981).

Tim Gay :

The Eastern Alliance started in 1965 by Bill Wrinn and myself. The record label was a combination of our names thus WRIGA RECORDS

Original members were Tim Gay - vocals, Bill Wrinn - drums, Bill Dinneen - bass guitar and Joe Vaiuso - keyboards and organ.

Shortly after we added Ricky Zwick on guitar.

The Band started in New Haven Connecticut.

We recorded our first record at The Music Box Recording Studio in Hamden, Ct. in early 1966 and released the single in 1966.

Ricky Zwick soon after left the band and was replaced by Al Paluse from Ansonia, Ct.

We were recording our second single at Syncron Trod Nossell recording studio in Wallingford, Ct when the band dissolved. Bill Dinneen had left the band and had been replaced by John Riccio AKA Buffalo Sun on Bass guitar.

The second single was finished but was never released. ( I have attached an MP3 of the song)

We were also featured in the hardcover book  (TeenBeat Mayhem!) written by Mike Markesich which was released in 2012

The original Eastern Alliance band lasted only a couple of years and then turned into a band named The Snow which started around 1968 and lasted a couple of years.

In 1970 we revised The Eastern Alliance with new members and worked a couple of years with that band untill 1972 when we formed the band called TAPROCK.

Taprock released one single on School Bus Records (also attached) and disbanded around 1978-1979 when I formed the Band called THE SMOKEY BOYS BAND.

The Smokey Boys Band Performed on the road from 1979 to 1989 with many Nashville Grand Ole Opry artists, released many albums, did television music shows and talk shows and appeared in the movie FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2.

The Smokey Boys Band still performs and records today.

I also see you are friends with George Morgio of The North Atlantic Invasion Force. George and I have been friends for over 50 years and worked together many times in the 1960's. We used to do concerts together with my band and his band on the same bill.

There were many very good bands here in Ct. at that time including The Shags, The Chosen Few,Tommy and The Rivieras, and Micheal Bolton to name just a few.  ... "
