The Bats  (Pennsylvania - US, Garage Rock)  -  mało znane zespoły

Trochę spóźniony mikołajkowy prezent. Od dłuższego czasu miałem ochotę o nich napisać, ich

świetny singiel do dzisiaj robi wrażenie. Niestety, brak wiarygodnych  (sprawdzonych)  informacji

powodował niemożność realizacji tego planu.

Jednak szczęście się do mnie uśmiechnęło, po wielu dniach poszukiwań udało mi się nawiązać kontakt z członkiem tego zespołu  (autorem obydwu kompozycji singlowych) - gitarzystą Dennis'em

Nardantonio. To dzięki niemu ta publikacja jest możliwa.

Grupa The Bats została założona około 1965r. w Narberth, PA lub  (można także powiedzieć) w

pobliskim Penn Valley  (skąd pochodzi Dennis) - w składzie :

- Bob Digianvittorio  -  vocals  (kuzyn Dennis'a)

- Dennis Nardantonio  -  guitar

- Wesley Reed  -  drums

- Jerry Nacarrelli  -  bass.

Dwoje z nich  (Dennis i Wesley)  uczęszczało do Harriton High School, Rosemont, PA.

został nagrany  (Frank Virtue - Virtue Recording Studios - Philadelphia, N Broad St)  w 1966r,

wydany w drugiej połowie 1966r. na etykiecie Merben Records  (MR - 501, drogie i bardzo cenione przez kolekcjonerów wydawnictwo)

(Gitara   [Fender Jaguar]  Dennis'a  Nardantonio, na której grał podczas sesji nagraniowej singla)

Dennis  (w tym czasie osoba niepełnoletnia)  nie mógł podpisać kontraktu, zrobił to za niego jego

ojciec Guido  (to on występuje na etykiecie singla jako autor piosenek, faktycznie był nim Dennis).

Wojna w Wietnamie odcisnęła swoje piętno także na tym zespole. Krótko po nagraniu singla

Wesley, a także Bob zostali powołani do wojska i wysłani do Wietnam. Grupa The Bats zakończyła

działalność.

"... Hello Paul,

Guido was my father. Even though his name is on label I wrote the song. I was told at that time I was too young to sign a contract.  There were 4 in the band. Lead singer was Bob Digianvittorio (cousin), myself on guitar, Wesley Reed on drums, Jerry Nacarrelli on bass. I put down an organ track in Evelyn. Shortly after the recording Bob was drafted into the army. In the service he met a couple of guys in the service who sang well. They did the harmony in the songs. I don't remember their names. ..."

Yes .... it started Narberth PA or you could say Penn Valley where I lived which is near Narberth. Just two us went to Harriton in Rosemont PA..... myself and the drummer. The Vietnam war in the 60's dissolved the band. The drummer and lead singer were drafted. I never saw the drummer again. The songs were recorded at Virtue on N. Broad st. Yes... I have recorded songs after that.  If you Google the word FOJOM it will take you to various links where there are some recent songs ..."
