Sunn Cycle  (North Carolina - US, Psych Rock)  -  mało znane zespoły

Na wstępie pragnę podziękować Billy Farmer'owi za udostępnienie informacji o zespole, bez których ta publikacja byłaby niemożliwa.

Grupa Sunn Cycle powstała w Asheville  (North Carolina, US)  na początku 1969r. - pierwotnie w

składzie :

- Billy Farmer  -  guitar 

- Larry Blanton  -  organ

- Tommy Walker  -  drums

- Carl McTaggart  -  bass

(Sunn Cycle, około tydzień po wykonaniu tego zdjęcia do zespołu dołączył Danny Kennedy)

Dość szybko ten ostatni  (Carl McTaggart)  opuścił zespół do którego dołączył :

- Danny Kennedy  -  guitar,

a Billy Farmer został basistą.

W tym składzie, pod koniec 1969r. grupa zarejestrowała  (jamowe granie w Taylor Made Studios

w Asheville)  jeden dwuczęściowy utwór :

- "Acid Raga, Pt. 1"

- "Acid Raga, Pt. 2",

który został wydany na singlu  (1969 / 1970, Spectrum Records, ST - 1).

Kilka miesięcy później, grupa została rozwiązana.  Pomimo krótkiego okresu działalności  (1969 - 1970)  przez zespół przewinęło się znaczne grono muzyków :

- Bill Ford  (drums)

- Danny Ernest  (drums)

- Steve Stewart  (drums)

- Phil Quinn  (guitar)

- Buddy Church  (guitar)

- Raymond "Willie" Bartlett  (drums).

"Acid Raga" - to jedyne nagranie zarejestrowane przez Sunn Cycle.

"...Hi Paul. Thank you for your interest in The Sunn-Cycle band. The band was formed out of Asheville, N.C. In early 1969. As the band was being put together, Carl McTaggart was the original bass player and I was the guitar player. Danny Kennedy was sort of waiting in the wings to see how things developed. The result was, Danny was a better guitar player than myself for what the band really needed. And the same applied to me becoming the bass player. Bill Ford from Knoxville was our next drummer followed by Danny Ernest. Next was Steve Stewart on drums and Phil Quinn on guitar. They were followed by Buddy Church on guitar, Raymond “Willie” Bartlett on drums. “Acid Raga” is the only song released by the band. The band dissolved a few months later by mutual agreement. “Acid Raga” was a jam for a sound check and shocked it was used and released. The song was recently released by The Numero Group out of Chicago on the album “Warfairing Strangers. My career spanned over 40 years. 12 years prior to The Sunn Cycle and 30 years afterward. Did a lot of session work in Memphis, Atlanta and sessions in New York, Baltimore, Washington DC, Cleveland, Charlotte & Nashville.
