The Amberjacks  (New York - US, Garage Rock)  -  mało znane zespoły

Dzięki nieocenionej pomocy Joe Donnelly  (wielkie dzięki za materiały i informacje o zespole)

z wielką przyjemnością mogę przedstawić grupę The Amberjacks  (circa 1964 - circa 1967) z

Baldwin  (New York, US).

Wiele lat temu Joe  (wówczas uczeń 5 klasy)  wraz z rówieśnikami - przyjaciółmi : Kevin Ryan i

Kenny Silverman, dzieląc swoje młodzieńcze pasje pomiędzy sportem, a muzyką - zakupili

instrumenty muzyczne  (Sunburst Fender Stratocaster, Fender bass) z postanowieniem założenia

zespołu. Joe  (kapitan drużyny piłkarskiej) i Kevin byli aktywnymi sportowcami  (football, baseball, lacrosse). Do trójki przyjaciół dołączył  "czwarty muszkieter" - Billy Silverman. Po kilku latach

intensywnych ćwiczeń, prób w garażu - jako The Amberjacks, w składzie :

- Kevin Ryan  -  guitar, vocals

- Joe Donnelly  -  guitar, vocals

- Kenny Silverman  -  bass, vocals

- Bill Johnston  -  drums,

zaczęli występować na szkolnych potańcówkach  (m.in. Baldwin Senior High School) i innych

lokalnych imprezach, a przede wszystkim w 1964r. wystąpili na New York State Exhibit Of The

World's Fair.

Jak wspomina Joe - "...w sobotę mecz piłki nożnej, a po meczu występ na tańcach ...".

Zespół przyciągnął uwagę lokalnego promotora, dzięki temu miał możliwość dodatkowych

koncertów, a przede wszystkim nagrania "własnego" singla z oryginalnymi piosenkami Kevin'a

Ryan'a.

Dwa utwory jego autorstwa :

- "Hey Eriq!"

- "Blue Jaunte"

znalazły się na jedynym  (singlowym) wydawnictwie zespołu - wydanym w 1966r. na etykiecie

Migliore Records  (nr kat. CR 727661 /2, 300 kopii, ultra rzadkie, drogie wydawnictwo - ok. 1000 USD).

Niestety był to początek końca zespołu. Młodzi chłopcy skończyli szkołę średnią i postanowili

kontynuować naukę w różnych szkołach wyższych. Muzyczna przygoda Kevin'a, Joey'a , Kenny'ego

i Bill'a dobiegła końca.

Wiele lat później piosenki The Amberjacks odżyły na nowo na różnych kompilacyjnych

wydawnictwach.

Uwielbiam spontaniczne  (autentyczne)  opisywanie przeszłości, zdarzeń które miały miejsce wiele

lat temu, ale pozostały w pamięci z wagi na bardzo pozytywne doznania - Joe idealnie to przedstawił

w korespondencji ze mną :

The story starts in Baldwin when I was in 5th grade. I had a friend that just bought a sunburst strat . His name is Kevin. I then bought one also. We had another friend of ours , Kenny, he bought a fender bass. We got an amp and started to mess around. We picked up some sure microphones. A the years passed we practiced. I have a vivid memory of us practicing in our garage. We acquired a drummer named Billy. He was really good. We made a record by our selves . “Put me down” was the A side. Kevin and I were very active in sports. Football, baseball lacrosse . This helped us with visibility. Kevin was either the president or some other position in high school. I was the captain of the football team dating the captain of the cheerleaders.We started getting the high school dances along with some other gigs. Was really a fun experience to play in the football game on Saturday then play at the dance after the game.Kevin was the creative one. He wrote Hey Eriq. This song had some meaning for him playing Lacrosse. Blue Jaunte was a depressing story .  Our band caught the eye of an individual that was interested in promoting us. Got us some addition gigs and a trip to a recording studio. We made 300 copies. Popular in juke boxes around town like the Local ice cream shop.

Recording the record was a rememberable experience. Our episode of entertainment terminated once we went to college. 

Our covers were : the Beatles ,stones , kinks, turtles etc. 

There was no internet. We had to learn the songs by ear. 

After 50 years I have decided to try and really learn the theory of playing guitar. 

We knew many of the bar chords. Lead was realizing if you play the notes of the chord it seamed to sound right
